Robin Galloway
Story Highlight
Mad as a hatter!
Since starting his career at Clyde 1's sister station Northsound almost 30 years ago, Robin Galloway has rocked the decks in radio studios across the UK. But it was joining the team at Clyde 1 as the host of the drivetime show take saw Robin achieve his boyhood dreams. "This has been the signing of my life. Clyde 1 is THE station that everyone wants to work for. It may have taken me almost three decades but I have finally made it." Fans of the cheeky presenter will be pleased to hear that the Aberdonian feels very much at home in Glasgow, and believes that it is the people that give the city it's edge. He said: "Glaswegians are the warmest, friendliest and most welcoming souls on earth. I'm so lucky to work for a station where the listeners are my best pals and never fail to entertain me with their witty banter. Robin, who is a self-confessed risk-taker, has become renowned for his pranks and practical jokes. During an on-air interview with socialite Paris Hilton, the courageous DJ persuaded the starlet to telephone the Glasgow Hilton Hotel to try and negotiate a discounted room rate. He said: "She spoke to the receptionist and insisted that her grandfather owned the place, but the girl on the other end of the phone didn't take it seriously! The prank made worldwide headlines – it was a great laugh!". But in spite of his trickster tendencies, Robin says that he often dreams of the quiet life. If he wasn't a DJ, he would retire to a cottage in the west coast of Scotland to become a beekeeper and producer of fine preserves. Fortunately for Clyde 1 listeners, this is unlikely to happen at any time in the near future - Robin is a true city slicker after all: "A perfect Saturday night for me is dinner with friends at Glasgow restaurant 29, followed by a dance at One Up or Boho in the west end. "And I couldn't live without my manbag, which is the perfect size for my iPad, L'oreal for men eyeliner pencil and Beats headphones – three essential ingredients for everyday living!". Robin Galloway presents the weekday drivetime show on Clyde 1 from 2pm – 6pm.
"Getting paid to speak to such a fantastic audience and play them top music, life doesn't get much better than this."
