| Aspects of Love 7.30 (Arts and Entertainment) Ongoing Event, Ends 03/11/2007 Location: King's Theatre ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER’S ASPECTS OF LOVE STARRING DAVID ESSEX COMES TO GLASGOW The brand new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most romantic musical Aspects of Love starring David Essex will be at the King’s Theatre Glasgow from Tuesday 30 October to Saturday 3 November 2007. This is the first time in over 15 years that audiences around the UK will have the chance to experience a show which the Daily Telegraph described as “Lloyd Webber’s best”. This highly anticipated revival is set to be the theatrical event of the year. France 1947. English student Alex Dillingham, travelling through France before his call up, falls in love with the alluring actress Rose Vibert. After a little persuasion, Rose joins Alex at his uncle’s villa. As the pair embark on a passionate affair, the unexpected arrival of Uncle George (David Essex) changes their lives forever. From the cobbled streets of Paris to the mountains of the Pyrenees, Aspects of Love is a heartbreaking love story spanning twenty years. Passion, desire, family ties and friendship bind six people and three generations together as they come to appreciate how love changes everything… David Essex has enjoyed a remarkable career as a recording artist, performer and composer. He has written, recorded and produced albums and singles that have sold millions of copies worldwide. He has twenty three Top 30 hits to his name including the number one singles Hold Me Close and Gonna Make You a Star. This is, of course, not the first time he has starred in one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals, having originated the pivotal role of Che in the legendary West End production of Evita in 1978. Other stage credits include Jesus in the original London production of Godspell. Aspects of Love originally opened in the West End in 1989 and ran successfully for three years garnering acclaim for what many critics described as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most romantic score. With lyrics by Don Black (Tell Me on a Sunday, Bombay Dreams) and Charles Hart (The Phantom of the Opera), the show features the songs Seeing is Believing, Anything But Lonely as well as the international hit Love Changes Everything. | Grumpy Old Women Live 7.30 (Arts and Entertainment) Location: Theatre Royal, Glasgow SELL-OUT HIT SHOW RETURNS WITH NEW CAST Grumpy Old Women Live will return to UK theatres this autumn, following exceptional demand for tickets on previous national tours. The new cast features: silver screen icon BRITT EKLAND, star of cinema classics including The Man With The Golden Gun, Get Carter and The Wicker Man; DILLIE KEANE, recently returned from the show’s successful stint in Australia; and DENISE BLACK, who made a dramatic reappearance on Coronation Street earlier this year. The new Grumpy team will play 41 major dates across the UK from 26th September to 3rd December 2007. Have you reached that certain age? Has cool and collected become hot and bothered? Do you make a funny grunting noise when you get out of a chair? One day you had a poodle perm and a twinkle in your eye, the next you can’t find your bifocals and you’re arguing with the pushy woman on the sat nav – which you have no idea how to turn off, never mind use. How did you get so… old? Well, don’t worry, you’re not the only walkman in an iPod world, and three highly trained G.O.W. are ready to embark on another nationwide complain-a-thon. Grumpy Old Women Live has previously completed two sell-out UK tours, a hugely successful month-long West End residency, and a hit run in Australia – which, combined, sold 150,000 tickets. Grumpy Old Women recently returned to BBC TWO to critical acclaim, with a third series. The live show is written by Perrier Award-winning comedian JENNY ECLAIR (soon to tour with her first stand-up show in six years) and JUDITH HOLDER (best-selling author of the first Grumpy Old Women book and producer of the hit TV series). The show was script edited by RICHARD HERRING, writer and star of the critically acclaimed comedy-drama You Can Choose Your Friends (ITV1). | ||

Jason Carmichael (Tom Conti) is a dashing and wonderfully witty Broadway playwright who has just met the love of his life - on the day of his wedding to someone else! Conti starred in this play in the West End opposite Pauline Collins. He lends his unique charm to a play filled with laughter. As he says himself: “Romantic Comedy does just what it says on the tin: it’s full of laughter and romance, a brilliantly funny play by a master of the genre.” Tickets £10 - £23.50 Box Office 0870 060 6647 www.theatreroyalglasgow.com | ||
